Oliver H. Lynn is a solitary man who works as a librarian and sysadmin in the city's public library. He usually keeps to himself more often than not, and is more focused on his job than talking with his co-workers. But lately, Ollie has been going to therapy, and might be interested in opening up a bit more. Maybe he might actually start making new friends for once. Maybe even with a newcomer.
Ollie is melancholy and reserved, but also suave and diligent. He is also very creative, and has a vivid imagination. Ollie is very passionate about many subjects, such as technology, history, and music, and can remember entire pages worth of information about these topics. However, he can also be the kind of person who would apologize way too much before crying. Ollie is very emotionally sensitive, and even mild criticisms might cause him to burst into tears. But he has been working on that for a while with therapy, and has become less closed-off. Ollie is someone who wants to be a better version of himself, but is still struggling to do so. At least he's trying to do his best...
Ollie struggles with chronic loneliness. He doesn't feel like he has any friends, and isn't interested in connecting with his co-workers, as they don't share any of his passions. This loneliness has been eating him from inside for quite sometime now. Fortunately, the local government started a new program that improved access to mental healthcare for people with job insurance, and Ollie benefited greatly from that. But while he's much more eager to start talking to people and make new friends, he now has another problem to deal with. Ollie has been hearing the news more often lately, and what he's hearing—a rapidly worsening climate; increasing political extremism; extreme income inequality putting the world in the hands of the wealthy and detached few—has been instilling in him a sense of doom and dread for the last couple of weeks. He just wishes he knows what to do about it.
Ollie is very nostalgic for the good old days, and frequently reminisces about it. Nowadays, he tries not to look back as much, but occasionally the temptation is too hard to resist. Ollie believes that the best thing he can do to help the world is in the little acts of kindness and empathy. However, he is not naive and is willing to criticize, call out, and even condemn if someone or something crosses a line. Regardless, he still treats his enemies with politeness, although upon reaching a certain limit he will back out.
Ollie has a sickly appearance, very messy blond hair and has heterochromia iridium, where his left eye is green while his right eye is turquoise. Sometimes, Ollie has an unkempt stubble, but sometimes he shaves it. He is 181 cm / 5'11" tall, weighs around 64 kg / 141 lb, and is 20 years old; his preferred color is turquoise/cyan. He usually wears a khaki trench coat, a white undershirt, gray trousers, and brown shoes.
